About HSPA

The Hoosier State Press Association (HSPA) was founded in 1933 as a trade association representing daily and weekly paid circulation newspapers in Indiana.  Today, HSPA has a  membership of more than 170 newspapers representing nearly all paid circulation newspapers in Indiana.

The association provides legal and representation services for Indiana newspapers as well as educational programming and many other services through HSPA and the HSPA Foundation founded in 1999.  In addition to professional growth programs, the HSPA Foundation provides services in literacy, newspapers in education, college internships, high school newspaper and yearbook advisors internships and many other worthwhile areas.

The foundation also files “friend of the court” briefs in appellate level court cases where the public’s right to know may be adversely affected or principles of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution are threatened.

The association is located in Indianapolis.  Main phone number is (317) 803 4772.  Mailing address:  One Virginia Ave., Suite 701, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
